Benjamin was born about 1772 in Virginia. Benjamin's father was William Kite and his mother was Catharine Smith. His paternal grandparents were John Wendel Kite and Hannah Medlicott. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, Adam, Reuben, Martin, John and Elizabeth.-
