William E.'s father was Watson Ketron and his mother was Mary Cookenhour. His paternal grandparents were Henry Kettering and Susannah Sluss; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Cookenhour and Mary. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John Wesley, Joseph H., Reuben J., Alice E., Ella R., Mary Ann and Sarah.-
