Lawrence's father was Henry Keller and his mother was Margaret Snapp. His paternal grandparents were George Keller and Barbara Anna Hottel; his maternal grandparents were Lawrence Snapp and Margaret Stephens. He had five brothers and six sisters, named John Henry, Abraham, Jacob, Philip, Philip, Barbara, Catherine, Elizabeth, Henry, Margaret and Mary.-
