Matilda Hale 
Matilda was born in 1838 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Matilda's father was William Hale and her mother was Susan. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Harvey Hale and Esther Brotherton. She had four brothers and a sister, named Harvey, John, William, James and Rebecca. She was the oldest of the six children.-
