Josephus Goff 
Josephus was born on June 29th, 1806 in Rockingham Co., North Carolina. Josephus' father was William Goff and his mother was Mary Oliver. His paternal grandparents were William Goff and Nancy; his maternal grandparents were James Oliver and Susannah Lemons. He had six brothers and four sisters, named James Oliver, John William, Samuel, Robert Oliver, George Oliver, Daniel, Susannah, Nancy, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 71 in 1877.General Notes
! History Josephus Goff
Josephus appears on the tax records of Owen in 1829. There is also an
Elijah Gough, born 1780-90 at the same time. Yet another, William Gof f,
from N.C., of the right age group to have been his fatherappears too . This
William married Mary Oliver and had a son named James, born abt 1808,
who died in Jasper Co., Missouri 1878.
William, son of Josephus, was also in Jasper Co., Missouri in 1880.
