John was born in 1779 in Pennsylvania.  John's father was John Adam Geisler and his mother was Anna Kuny.  His maternal grandparents were Adam Kuhny and Anna. He had a brother named Jacob.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1846 in Missouri.
