Joseph Robert was born on January 27th, 1866 in , Stone, Missouri. Joseph Robert's father was Absalom Garrison and his mother was Mary Isabelle Jackson. His paternal grandparents were James C. Garrison and Diana Kyle; his maternal grandparents were Andrew Jr. Jackson and Sarah York. He had eight brothers and seven sisters, named James Andrew, William Harvey, John Wiley, Thomas Franklin, Oscar Newlin, Burgus Crittenden, Isaac N., Fred Ernest, Diana, Sarah Margaret, Nancy Jane, Pinckney Lola, Ida Elizabeth, Mary Lynn and Nora Louella. He was the fourth oldest of the sixteen children. He died at the age of 63 on September 13th, 1929 in Fillmore, Ventura, California.-
