Stephen Huston's father was Austin Fansler and his mother was Ruth Jones. His paternal grandparents were David Fansler and Mary Shipley; his maternal grandfather was Jones. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Charles, Thomas D., Walter D., Amanda, Hannah, Margaret A., Martha M., Mary Catherine and Sarah E.. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Ransom, Samuel, Virgil and Barbara.-
