Catherine was born about 1768 in Virginia.  Catherine's father was Jacob Droke and her mother was Magdalena Shyra.  Her paternal grandfather was Johan Peter Druck. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Gabriel, Jacob, John D., Daniel, David, Elizabeth and Ann.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.
