Ann was born about 1779 in Virginia.  Ann's father was Jacob Droke and her mother was Magdalena Shyra.  Her paternal grandfather was Johan Peter Druck. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Gabriel, Jacob, John D., Daniel, David, Elizabeth and Catherine.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.
