Mary Ann was born in 1853 in Tennessee. Mary Ann's father was William C. Cato and her mother was Jane Peebles. Her paternal grandparents were Roland Cato and Nancy Vincent. She had three brothers and a sister, named William R., Thomas C., Robert and Nancy. She was the youngest of the five children.-
