Margaret Christena was born in 1884. Margaret Christena's father was George Washington Shipley Brown and her mother was Susan La Wi Na Horn. Her paternal grandparents were George Washington Brown and Christena E. Shipley. She had two brothers and a sister, named James Mcneil, William Jehue and Florence Rowena. She was the oldest of the four children.-
