Charity was born about 1739 in NC. Charity's father was William Brown and her mother was Charity Holmes. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Brown and Christian Maule; her maternal grandparents were John Holmes and Tamar Bird. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Abner, James, Hardy, William, Mary and Elizabeth. She was the third youngest of the seven children.-
