Mary E. was born on February 1st, 1902 in Tennessee. Mary E.'s father was Samuel J. Birchfield and her mother was Ida Florence Hagood. Her paternal grandparents were William Thomas Birchfield and Martha Bradshaw; her maternal grandparents were Wiley B. Hagood and Mary E. Seavers. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named William Claude, Joseph Blanchard, Earnest Kyle, Ervin Ralph, Bartholomew, Shields, Harry E., Samuel J., Elizabeth Maude, Nora and Sylvia J.. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 1 on January 25th, 1904 in Tennessee.-
