Absilla's father was Joshua Bell and her mother was Pheraby Norfleet. Her paternal grandparents were William Bell and Ann Jones; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Norfleet III and Ruth. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named Joshua, Thomas, Whitmel, William, Arthur, Benjamin, Bythel, Frederick, Joseph, Reason and Ferabee.-
