William Brantley was born in 1774 in North Carolina. William Brantley's father was William Henry Alsobrook and his mother was Martha Womack. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Alsobrook and Joan Howell; his maternal grandparents were William Womack and Mary Brantley. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Isham, Jesse, John W., Sarah, Delilah, Lotty, Mary and Nancy.-
