Isham was born about 1770 in North Carolina. Isham's father was William Henry Alsobrook and his mother was Martha Womack. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Alsobrook and Joan Howell; his maternal grandparents were William Womack and Mary Brantley. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William Brantley, Jesse, John W., Sarah, Delilah, Lotty, Mary and Nancy.-
