John was born about 1787 in Upper Makefield Twp, Bucks Co., PA. John 's father was John TOMLINSON and his mother was Cynthia DOAN. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin DOANE and Jemima HESTON. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Amos, Joseph , Mary , Mercy and Cynthia. He was the third oldest of the six children.-
