Perry was born about 1847 in VA.  Perry's father was Farncis  HANSHAW and his mother was Mary Ann  ORBION. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Francis M. , John Jackson , William , Henry , Silas Smith, James , Sarah F.  and Minerva Ann .  He was the youngest of the nine children.
