Henry I the Fowler was born in 0875.1 Henry I the Fowler's father was Otto the Illustrious of Saxony Duke of Saxony and his mother was Hedwige of Germany. His paternal grandparents were Liudolf of Saxony Ct de Saxony and Oda Billung; his maternal grandparents were Louis II the German King of East Franks and Emma of Bavaria. He was an only child. grandson of Louis the German (who was a grandson of Charlemagne). The
