Alexander Comyn was born about 1217 in Buchan, Aberdeen, Scotland.1 Alexander Comyn's father was William Comyn Earl of Buchan and his mother was Margaret Colhan Cts de Buchan. His paternal grandparents were Richard Comyn Lord Tynedale and Hextilda FitzUchtred; his maternal grandfather was Fergus Colhan Earl of Buchan. He had a half-brother named Richard Comyn.
