John was born on March 1st, 1803 in Sugar Creek, Venango, PA.1 John's father was Nathaniel Cary and his mother was Isabella Unknown. His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Cary and Dorcas Marcy. He had two brothers and three sisters, named James, Nathaniel, Dorcas, Isabella and Mary. He was the third youngest of the six children.-
