Richard was born about 1821 in KilmacAbea, Ireland. Richard's father was Rev Jonas Favers Jones and his mother was Catherine Webb. His maternal grandparents were Richard Webb and Eliza Browne. He had two brothers and a sister, named Harry, Jonas and Eliza. He was the second oldest of the four children.-
