Florentyna was born on March 12th, 1878.  Florentyna's father was Józef Manterys and her mother was Joanna Manterys (Chuchro).  Her paternal grandparents were Marcin Manterys and Brygida Manterys (Krotlińska). She had five brothers and eight sisters, named Franciszek, Marcin, Maciej, Kazimierz, Ludwik, Franciszka, Marianna, Agnieszka, Katarzyna, Wiktoria, Julianna, Rozalia and Waleria.  She was the fourth youngest of the fourteen children.
