PAUL FRED WARFEL

Paul Fred Warfel was born December 9, 1890 in Salem, Missouri to James Stewart Warfel and Hattie Edwards. His brothers were Harry and Glen. His sisters were Adele, Ruth, Virginia, and Lottie.

During his early life he worked in a sawmill with his father at Bunker, Missouri. He left home while quite young and went to Glenrock, Wyoming, where he worked on ranches. Returning to Missouri, he met and married Floy Madelina (Lena) Parks on August 8, 1912. He homesteaded near Conrad, Montana and in 1919 he bought the ML ranch near Lovell, Wyoming. He sold the ML in 1926 and the family moved back to Montana.

Four boys completed the family, George, Emmett (who died in a Japanese concentration camp during WWII), Edward and Leroy.

During the war he operated a sawmill in Montana and later lived in Clyde Park, working for the REA. They moved back to Wyoming in the early 50's where he engaged in ranching. He spent this past winter in California with his sisters but was anxious to return to Wyoming where he enjoyed the mountains and climate. Paul liked to garden and gave much of his produce away.

He was preceded in death by Lena in December 1976. He had 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

He will be remembered for his constant teasing, interesting stories, and sense of humor.

Paul was very proud of his involvement with the ML Ranch of Kain, Wyoming. We don't know what the involvement was other than that he worked there.
