James Alexander was born on January 1st, 1824 in Altoona, Blair, Pennsylvania, United States.1   James Alexander's father was Emanuel Warfel and his mother was Sarah E. Shade.  His paternal grandparents were Hans Adam Werfel and Sarah Caldwell.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 78 on January 27th, 1902 in Salem, Dent, Missouri, United States.
