Casper Hendrik was born on February 7th, 1810 in Graaff Reinet.  Casper Hendrik's father was Jan Barend van Blerk and his mother was Maria Catharina van den Berg (van Blerk).  His paternal grandparents were Jan Barend van Blerk and Geertruy Swart (van Blerk); his maternal grandparents were Pieter van den Berg and Susanna Fouche (van den Berg). He had four brothers and six sisters, named Johannes Hendrick Barend, Petrus Jacobus, Hendrik Stephanus, Hendrik Stephanus, Geertruy Christina, Susanna Catharina Magdalena, Maria Catharina Elizabeth, Catharina Jacoba Petronella, Judith Elizabeth and Hester Magdalena.  He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 78 on February 13th, 1888 in Graaff Reinet.
