    Obituary: Holden - Muriel V. (Spinney) Nelson, 98, of 317 Salisbury St., one of the six original nurses at the former Holden Hospital, died yesterday in Holden Nursing Home, 32 Mayo Drive, after an illness.
    Her husband, Rudolph C. Nelson, died in 1980. She leaves a nephew, Kenneth Fritz of Rye, New Hampshire; a niece, Jacqueline E. Holihan of North Hampton, New Hampshire; grandnephews and grandnieces; great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.
    She was born in Eliot, Maine, daughter of Wilmont E. and Valeria (Urch) Spinney, and lived here many years. She graduated from Eliot High School and the Portsmouth (N.H.) Hospital School of Nursing.
    Mrs. Nelson was one of the first six nurses at Holden Hospital, which was then a cottage on Pleasant Street, and worked 26 years in several nursing capacities there. She retired as assistant superintendent of the hospital, which had been renamed Holden District Hospital and had been moved to Boyden Road. She was a member of S. Francis Episcopal Church.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
