William was born on July 31st, 1910.  William's father was Crockett E. Dow and his mother was Susie B. Morey.  His paternal grandparents were David Dow and Sophia Pickering; his maternal grandparents are William Morey and Izora Eaton. He had three sisters named Sybil, Doris and Dow.  He was the third oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers named Laurance and Augustus.
