Sándor's father was Bertalan Körtvélyesi and his mother was Viktória Tamás.  His paternal grandparents were Mihály Körtvélyesi and Anna Csizmadia. He had two brothers and a sister, named Mihály, Bertalan and Anna.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 77 in 1984.¹
