2Obituary, 27 Dec 2003. "RUMPEL, Doug. Husband, father, and grandpa, born November 26, 1922 passed away December 24, 2003 at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre D.V.A. Wing. Dougwas predeceased by his mother and father, Jacob and Emily Rumpel, brother Roy, sisters Edna Sands, Lillian Mang and Irene Jackson, several brothers in law and sisters in law and his first wife Lillian (Mang) Rumpel in 1955. He leaves behind his wife of thirty-three years Beth (Robinson) Rumpel and children, Brenda (Ron) Mathieson, grand children Jay andJessica, David (Jana) Dixon, grand children Michael and Christina, Linda (Howard) Williamson, grand child Kelly, Debra (Garry) Graham, grand children Tim and Leanna, brothers, Wilbert (Kay) Rumpel, Mervin (Arlene) Rumpel and several nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law. Doug was born in Balgonie, Sask. He volunteered for the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942, serving in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Far East. He was discharged in 1946. He then joined the Federal Government Health and Welfare Division and rose to Chief of Old Age Security, retiring on December 30, 1979. Doug was an avid fisherman, curler and bowler, he loved camping and gardening and was a long time fan of the Roughriders. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December30, 2003 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK with Rev. Jan Temple-Jones, officiating. Interment to followin Riverside Memorial Park, Regina, SK. Flowers most gratefully declined,donations in Doug's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 150 Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4R 2N2 or the Veteran's Wing, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 23rd Avenue, Regina, SK, S4S 0A5."
