Alexandru, known as Sandu, was born in March 1953 and his christening was conducted by the priest.  Sandu's father was Cornel Parepeanu and his mother was Maria Parepeanu.  His paternal grandparents were Dumitru Parepeanu and Olimpia Parepeanu. He has a brother named Viorel.  He is the older of the two children.
