Maria del Carmen was born on January 1st, 1892 in Rio Chico.  Maria del Carmen's father was Juan Felipe Silva Calderon and her mother was Cristina Martinez Avila.  Her paternal grandparents are Manuel de Jesus Silva and Maria Calderon; her maternal grandparents were Pedro Jose Martinez Luz and Carmelita Avila. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Jesus Maria, Manuel Edmundo, Pedro Felipe, Pedro Manuel, Juan Felipe, Maria Concepcion, Carmen Rafaela, Maria Teodora and Maria Cristina.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 85 on October 6th, 1977 in Valle de Guanape.
