Michael was born on February 17th, 1878 in Dublin and his baptism took place there conducted by Father McNulty. Michael's father was Mr Michael McCesney and his mother was Mrs Eileen Hurst (McCesney). His paternal grandparents were Mr Sean McCesney and Mrs (McCesney); his maternal grandfather is Mr Spencer Hurst and his maternal grandmother was Mrs Mairead (Hurst). He has a brother named Spencer. He is the older of the two children.
