Sean, known as Spencer, was born on May 10th, 1883 in Dublin and his baptism took place there conducted by Father Darcy. Spencer's father was Mr Michael McCesney and his mother was Mrs Eileen Hurst (McCesney). His paternal grandparents were Mr Sean McCesney and Mrs (McCesney); his maternal grandfather is Mr Spencer Hurst and his maternal grandmother was Mrs Mairead (Hurst). He has a brother named Michael. He is the younger of the two children.
