John WHITTLE

John was born about April 1860 in Wigan.¹ John's father was Joseph Whittle and his mother was Nancy THOMASON. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Whittle and Mary (Whittle); his maternal grandparents were JONATHAN THOMASON and MARY HIGSON. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Henry, Ellen, Amelia and Mary. He was the oldest of the six known children.
