Walter was born on June 24th, 1909.  Walter's father was Emil Otto Rienhardt Winske and his mother was Louise Paulina Behnke.  His paternal grandparents were Carl Friedrich Woiske and Caroline Hauschulz. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Leo, Bill, Otto, Arthur, Rienhardt, Martha and Olga.  He was the youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 55 on September 12th, 1964.

‌Walter and Ruth were married on November 25th, 1948.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Jim, David and Bonnie.
