August was born on January 17th, 1838.1   August's father was Gottlieb Hauschulz and his mother was Dorothea Thomke. He had a brother and two sisters, named Johann, Wilhelmina and Caroline.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 89 on August 6th, 1927.1
