Zdenìk was born in 1558.  Zdenìk's father was Jiøí Valdštejna, z and his mother is Kateøina Slavatová z Chlumu.  His paternal grandparents were Zdenìk Valdštejna, z and Voršila Vartemberka, z. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Karel, Jindøich, Hanibal, Jan Kryštof, Bartolomìj, Vilém IV., Jan mladší, Mandalena, Voršila, Jitka, Barbora and Kateøina.  He died at the age of 35 on October 21st, 1593.
