Philip's father was Bohemund IV. "the One-Eyed" Poitiers, de and his mother was Plaisance Giblet, de. His paternal grandparents were Bohemund III. "the Stutterer" Poitiers, de and Orgueilleuse Harenc, d'. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Raimund, Bohemund V., Henri, Marie and Orgueilleuse. He had two half-sisters named Helvis and Marie. He died in 1226 in poisoning in prison.
