Jan Josef was born in 1718.  Jan Josef's father was Karel Ferdinand Dobrzenský z Dobrzenicz and his mother was Anna Alžbìta Terezie Straková z Nedabylic.  His paternal grandfather was Jan František Dobrzenský z Dobrzenicz and his paternal grandmother is Anna Magdalena SLUZSKÁ Z CHLUMU; his maternal grandfather was Jindøich Jan Straka z Nedabylic and his maternal grandmother is Marie Veronika Stošová z Kounic. He had three brothers and a sister, named Václav Petr I., František Karel, Jan Nepomuk Josef I. and Marie Kateøina Alžbìta.  He was the second youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Ferdinand Jindøich, Kateøina Anna Terezie, Marie and Ludmila.  He died at the age of 1 in 1719.
