Melanie was born on November 15th, 1842 in Brno.  Melanie's father was Michal Sigmund Bukùwka z Bukùwky and her mother was Karolina Beess von Chrostin. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Karel Zikmund, Jaromír Sigmund, Michal Zikmund, Antonie, Michaela and Karolina.  She was the oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 89 on September 10th, 1932 in Brno.
