Hynek was born in 1454.  Hynek's father was Zdenìk Brtnický z Valdštejna and his mother is Žofie Kunštátu, z.  His paternal grandfather was Hynek Brtnický z Valdštejna. He had two brothers named Jan and Václav.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 28 in 1482.
