Affonso I. was born in 1370. Affonso I.'s father was Joao I. "the False" Aviz, de and his mother is Inez Perez Esteves. His paternal grandfather was Pedro I. "O Rigoroso" Portugal, de and his paternal grandmother is Teresa Gille Lourenco. He had two sisters named Branca and Brites. He was the oldest of the three children. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Affonso, Duarte I., Pedro, Henrique 'le Navigateur', Joao, Fernando "the Blessed", Branca, Isabella and Branca. He died at the age of 91 in 1461 in Chaves. He was buried in Chaves.
