August Wilhelm Christian was born in 1801. August Wilhelm Christian's father was Wilhelm Ludwig Seldeneck, von and his mother was Auguste Bothmer, von. His paternal grandparents were Wilhelm Ludwig Baden-Durlach, von and Wilhelmine Christiane Schortmann. He had eight brothers named Wilhelm, Karl Friedrich, Friedrich, Ludwig Karl, Adolf, Heinrich, Bernhard and Rudolf. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 47 in 1848.
