Augusta was born on November 30th, 1719 in Gotha. Augusta's father was Friedrich II. Sachsen-Gotha, von and her mother was Magdalene Auguste Anhalt-Zerbst, von. Her paternal grandparents were Friedrich I. Sachsen-Gotha, von and Magdalene Sibylle Sachsen-Weissenfels, von; her maternal grandparents were Karl Wilhelm Anhalt-Zerbst, von and Sofie Sachsen-Weissenfels, von. She had eleven brothers and four sisters, named Friedrich III., Wilhelm, Karl Friedrich, Johann August, Christian, Christian Wilhelm, Ludwig Ernst, Emanuel, Moritz, Karl, Johann Adolf, Sofie, Sofie, Friederike and Magdalene Sibylle. She was the fifteenth oldest of the sixteen children. She died at the age of 52 on February 8th, 1772 in Carlton House.
