Isabella was born in 1481. Isabella's father was Alvaro Portugal-Braganca, de and her mother was Filippa Melo-Villena e Menezes, de. Her paternal grandparents were Fernando I. Braganca, de and Joana Castro, de. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Rodrigo, Jorge, Brites, Joana de Vilhena and Maria. She was the oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 16 in 1497.
