Markéta was born in 1537.  Markéta's father was Mikuláš Ostrovský ze Skalky.  Her paternal grandfather is Prokop Ostrovský ze Skalky. She had three brothers named Jiøík, Václav and Albrecht.  She died at the age of 22 in 1559.
