Mortimer was born in 1892. Mortimer's father was Alexander Falkenhausen, von and his mother was Elisabeth Schuler von Senden. His paternal grandparents were Friedrich Falkenhausen, von and Elisabeth Kameke, von. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Friedrich, Alexander, Ernst, Konrad, Hans, Therese, Renata and Margot. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 57 in 1949.
