Muralidhar's father was Janardhana Rao Vallabha and his mother was Aravinda (Sajjala) Vallabha.  His paternal grandparents were Veera Venkaiah Naidu Vallabha and Kanakamma (Pujamma) Vallabha; his maternal grandparents were Venkataswamy Sajjala and Manikyamma (d/o Chodagam Brahmaiah, Ponnur) Sajjala. He has six brothers and two sisters, named Madan Mohan, Sham Babu, Sai Shanker, Sudhir Babu, Ram Chander, Venkatesh, Vani Devi (Vallabha) and Amlu.  Amlu and Muralidhar are twins.  He was adopted by Venkata Subba Rao Naidu Vempati & Bhanumathi (Sajjala) Vempati.
